An exceptional 132-piece service by Georg Jensen, featuring the celebrated “Continental” pattern, also known in Denmark as “Antik” and catalogued as Model 4. Designed in 1906, the pattern belongs to the earliest chapter of Jensen’s celebrated silverwork, distinguished by its restrained lines, tactile surfaces and quiet Scandinavian elegance.

Rather than relying on elaborate ornament, the design allows the character of sterling silver to take centre stage. Its understated silhouette reflects Georg Jensen’s pioneering approach to functional silverware, where craftsmanship, material quality and sculptural clarity come together in a distinctly modern expression.

This extensive service brings together pieces bearing different Georg Jensen maker’s marks, reflecting the pattern’s long production history. The design dates to 1906, while the individual pieces were produced across different periods, making the ensemble a particularly interesting example of the enduring legacy of one of Denmark’s most important silver houses.

The service comprises 132 pieces in sterling silver, with stainless-steel blades where applicable. It was formerly part of Thomas S. Monaghan’s private collection, adding a distinguished provenance to this important ensemble.
