A sculptural expression of organic modernism
A rare prototype of Gabriella Crespi’s “Vaso Tripode” umbrella stand, designed in 1970. Executed in bronze, the piece transforms a functional object into a striking sculptural composition, characteristic of Crespi’s fascination with organic forms and natural structures.
The cylindrical body is enveloped by an exuberant arrangement of overlapping leaves, their strongly modelled veins and irregular edges creating a richly textured surface. The form rests on three large leaf-shaped feet, extending the botanical language of the piece from its body to its base.
With its combination of sculptural modelling, naturalistic forms and precious material, the “Vaso Tripode” exemplifies Crespi’s distinctive approach to functional design, where furniture and objects take on the presence of autonomous works of art.
