Les Puces du Design

April 28th-30th, 2023, Geneva, Switzerland

EDRA is delighted to announce upcoming collaborations with two contemporary artisans in time for the 13th edition of Geneva’s Puces du Design, marking the beginning of a happy volley of creative partnerships. Our love of textiles led us to designer-artist Sarah Espeute’s Marseille studio, where – aside from leading formations in her particular methods of broderie – she repurposes exquisite vintage French fabrics with her poetic, whimsical embroidered scenes. Espeute’s Oeuvres Sensibles comprises tableware – hand-embroidered napkins, tablecloths, towels – as well as varied bed linens; her modest, delicate pieces celebrate the simple objects and adornments that pave our domestic lives.
Espeute has created a bespoke tablecloth for EDRA entitled Table piège, hommage à Daniel Spoerri, a nod to the assemblage ‘Snare Pictures’ of the great Swiss artist. Thus two artisans concerned, through different mediums, with fixing everyday objects into permanence are brought together. The piece will be on show along with a selection of works at the Puces du Design, and available from May at our showroom in Carouge. Also being exhibited at the Puces du Design, and available at the EDRA showroom from May, are selected pieces from British ceramicist Sophie Wilson, who runs her brand, 1690, out of her 16th-century manor house in Lincolnshire. Wilson’s tableware, despite their asymmetry and illustrative flair, have the classic shape and robust quality of objects that have been passed down through generations. Topping off the wonderful selection at our stand this weekend are several pieces of vintage rattan garden furniture, including 1960s chairs by Lio Carminati and 1970s chairs from Bonacina reupholstered by EDRA with Outdoor cushions by Christopher Farr Cloth – an exclusive in Geneva, as Farr’s designs are’t stocked anywhere else in the city.
