Our selection for the 4th edition of Geneva’s design fair harks back to the smoky, wooded interiors of midcentury offices; think Don Draper and his penchant for Eames chairs. The iconic seats take centre stage in a set of four made in collaboration with Alexander Girard in the 1960s for the Fonda del Sol restaurant. The collection leans heavily on Italian designs – orange Aulenti stools, a steel and brass Stoppino library, a Stilnovo cone-shaped eight-light floor lamp – with some detours via exquisite Danish tables and a handsome Jean Prouvé daybed from the 1950s. Like in any respectable establishment in the latter half of the 20th century, the collection features pieces celebrating those two steadfasts of modern life: cigarettes and alcohol. A 1960s Rubelli and Pierre Fey-designed sofa, Il Padrino, fully restored with its original pillows, includes built-in ashtrays, as does a 1960s Portuguese lamp; a Danish teak dry bar by Eric Buch comes with matching stools, and a 1970s Willy Rizzo bar is beautifully inlaid with brass and mirrored glass. Topping off this sleek cohort, a selection of Murano blown glass tableware and delicate art deco bottles and saltshakers lend a classic, timeless feel.
